Start date of implementation phase I,II and III of SASO biodegradable plastic product registration
On October 14, 2016, the Saudi standards, metrology and quality bureau (SASO) released a biodegradable plastic products technical regulations, and since April 14, 2017, gradually began to perform different types of biodegradable plastic products registration system, the technology regulations to control the products need to be finished in SASO authorized registered laboratory testing, upload the SASO electronic registration system and related information for label rear can export to Saudi Arabia market.
The technical regulations apply to all oxidizable biodegradable polypropylene and polyethylene plastics exported to Saudi Arabia, except those used in industrial, medical and food sectors.
The law is implemented in three phases:
1. Phase I: from April 14, 2017;
2. Phase II: from 1 February 2019;
3. Phase III: from August 1, 2019.
